I agree - if I understand what you mean by "consistent scrutiny". The truth of the matter is that we all start from presuppositions. If we didn't have axioms, we wouldn't able to draw conclusions.

What I find striking is that Fundy Atheists have the same attitude as the Hard Core Baptists I grew up with. It was that attitude that first caused me to question, then leave them. If I leave one group because of an attitude, I am not about to join another with the same attitude. BTW, those same GARBC Baptists basically shun me and consider me to be an apostate bound for Hell.

What I find strange is that while claiming that there is no Truth, they believe that they alone have the Truth. In other words, if a person has any ability to think, the only conclusion they can come to is to agree with atheists. If one concludes that there is a God, weeeellllll... that is evidence in itself that they are incapable of rational thought. Do Baptists have the same line of thinking? Yep. If you are going to climb into that boat with them, that is your problem.

I am no more interested in hearing Fundy Atheists preach and lecture at me than I am some preacher from the God Almighty Righteous Baptist Church. I am more than willing to exchange ideas with anyone. The whole reason I am on this board is to share ideas with others and to get a broader idea what others are thinking.

I've met countless individuals whose faith was based on presupposition, not reason. Had you never been exposed to the bible or Christian theology as a child, I find it hard to believe you would accept it as a reasoning adult. Same goes for the Koran, etc...

Many people of a particular faith who are atheists are such because of presuppositions adopted from their environment as children. Do you believe all Muslims atheists are such because of their reason alone?

I've met countless individuals whose faith atheism was based on presupposition, not reason. Had you never been exposed to the bible or Christian theology atheism as a child, I find it hard to believe you would accept it as a reasoning adult.

Frankly, what I have found curious is that atheists love to shout from the roof tops that they came to their conclusion strictly as a matter of reason, yet they deny that a person of faith could come their conclusions as a matter of reason. They whine and moan that people of faith won't consider a contrary view, yet they exclude themselves from the requirement to be "open minded". What proof of God would be acceptable? Posters on this site have said that if Noah's ark were found, they would figure out a way to explain it away. Or if He stood in front of them, they would figure it was a halucination.

The strident accusations and distortions hardly do anything to help their cause. Anyone who has actually studied the Middle Ages knows that it was plagues, famine, and the Norse invasion that caused it. If anything, the Catholic Church held society together. The Norse invasion was so bad that gold and silver became scarce to the point that they had to revert to using grain as a currency. There is another thread going here that the poster says that the fact that there are differences among the Gospels proves they are all false. Really? These differences arise from different perspectives of the writers. Let's be real here. If these differences didn't exist, they would be complaining that they were all written by one person.

I have high regard for people like LWT who come across as reasonable. Many of you are just as bad in your attitudes towards persons of faith as you complain of them.

Charging resident's rate is a subsidy. Who do you think picks up the balance of the tuition? Or, are you going to tell me that the resident's rate is the actual cost and out of staters are getting charged substantially over actual cost? Your friends that send their children from other states, do so legally. It is mindboggling that people who are here illegally in the first place get rewards for their illegal behaviour.

I have been waiting well over a year. "scholar's" silence has been defening. His inability/refusal to provide an answer only leads me to believe that he is entirely clueless. For the record the question is: Can you prove, using ONLY the Bible that Jerusalem fell in 607 BC? I would think that would an easy one for one who claims to have so much "proof". "scholar" has singlehandedly destroyed any notions that I may have had that JW's even have any concept of what 'truth' is. He is truly a disgrace to Jehovah.

I am from New York, the 2nd most screwed up state in the Union. I have relatives in the L.A area who keep me up to date with what is going on out there. I also have a friend that sold his auto parts business in California because the taxes and regulations were crushing him. He set up another parts business out here.

Have you noticed that people are leaving your state in droves? It is not because of the weather. California is a beautiful place to live. I would love to live there myself. The problem is the economic cimate. How can you support your government at its current level if you are killing private businesses? What is Governor Moonbeam going to do to fix it? Apply more liberalism? That would be like eating a tablespoon of arsenic because the teaspoon of arsenic made you sick.
